It’s interesting that America chooses to vote a few days after Halloween, Samhain, the Day of the Dead. The name changes depending upon our cultures, but the Sun in Scorpio holidays all offer a chance to make our peace with ancestors, dance with our fears, and feed sweets to the future. We get to review our past and face our worries before the long winter, or long elected term, ahead.

On that scary note, in this unusual year, we may feel like we are holding our breath until election day for many reasons. Halloween begins with an early morning full Moon in Taurus, conjunct erratic Uranus, and so we may run unusual anxiety and can expect the unexpected. Our thoughts could feel burdened this weekend as Mercury, retrograde for the last three weeks, slows down before the election, squares serious, thoughtful, delay-producing Saturn, and then turns direct on Tuesday morning. We’ll be painfully aware of the seriousness of this moment in history, thoroughly aware of this year’s limitations, all Saturn traits.

This recent Mercury retrograde cycle sent our minds back to think about what worked for us, and what hasn’t, over the last four years, particularly these last four months; this process can potentially help us decide to create a healthier future. Mercury and Venus are both now in kindly Libra and so encourage the call for justice, kindness, and a desire for what’s fair. Mercury square Saturn can delay election results, and delay all the other decisions that are hanging in the air until we can breathe again, but also help us take these…
