It’s a haunting week as we head towards Halloween, Samhuinn, Day of the Dead. With the sun, mental Mercury and heart-centered Venus now in deep Scorpio, our heart and minds are brought to the far side of the veil. It’s a week when we walk with our memories, particularly as Mercury slows down to turn retrograde on Thursday.
Most every culture has a version of this holiday in Scorpio season, a time to remember those who’ve gone before and now feel so close. The tradition is to make friends with death before winter sets in because one never knows who’s going to make it through. Scorpio gets morbid like that. But that veil we want to pierce can also be the veil over truth, mysteries, self-knowledge, or political obfuscation. Scorpio wants to know all.
And that goes for our inner work, it’s a time to spelunk our souls. Scorpio calls us to dive deep, look under the rocks and investigate the foundations of our thoughts and psyche. In a more literal sense, it’s an important time to investigate what’s working and not working in the house we live in, look at the foundations and check wires and the pipes. And do the same for the systems we work with and our houses of government.
Friday morning, we may feel a maudlin sweetness, memories of times past or a desire for a deeper present as Venus sextiles intense Pluto and the Moon enters sociable Libra. Over…
