Starcodes November 13, 2020 Heather Roan Robbins

There’s something redundant about a Friday the 13th in this year 2020. Now, underneath our cultural paraskevidekatriaphobia, behind a fear of the 13th God of Valhalla, Loki, or the 13 people present at the Last Supper, Friday the 13th honors the Moon (13 Moons a year) and Venus (Frija, foremother of Frigg and Freya, loving Norse Goddesses) and can be really quite lovely depending on our personal associations. But this Friday holds strange luck crosscurrents which can add confusion to an already confused world. Play it safe.

Mars has been retrograde in its own feisty, argument-prone, low-impulse-control sign of Aries since September, which has added a certain piquancy to this election season. This weekend Mars appears to stand still as it turns direct, like an energetic tornado swirling in place, and this can bring out the inner toddler in us all (let alone in those few people who truly embody adult toddlerism). As Mars turns direct it can expose unexpressed resentments, angers, plots and plans, and that can be messy. Mars also opposes Venus; Mars wants to start a fight while Venus in Libra wants to make nice, which can make for some interesting relationship dynamics and less romantic political difficulties. Once Mars is moving forward next week, we can expect to build momentum, but this weekend let’s keep our armor nearby, stay out of trouble, and hold that argument until Monday.
