The Sun enters Sagittarius this morning and initiates an outspoken and celebratory month. From now to the winter solstice is the season of holiday feasts and way too honest conversation around the dinner table. There’s an astrological reason why our harvest festival and office parties are both a time of camaraderie, gratitude, embarrassing moments and legendary fights.

Remember the old fairytale about the Emperor’s new clothes, he’d been bamboozled to believe that only the finest people could see his clothes, so he and his whole court pretended he wore lovely garments until a little boy too honest to lie said “but you’re naked!”. They all began to laugh and broke the spell. That boy epitomizes Sagittarius, the Sagittarian gift of the un-barbed truth which breaks the spell. Look in the early evening sky to the west and see Venus in Sagittarius as it approaches a conjunction with expansive Jupiter; together they encourage honesty, freedom of speech and of movement, our ability to be truly grateful, and our desire to get outside, connect with wildlife, and find a puppy.

Sagittarius planets generally crave plainspoken honesty but said without malice. Sagittarians can get such a reputation for straight talk, education, and philosophy, that they can also lie with impunity if they believe their own story.
