The ghosts and ghouls from the past don’t go away just because we’re past Halloween. Thoughtful Mercury just turned retrograde in haunting Scorpio where it will be until November 20. Mercury retrograde in Scorpio stirs up our memories, maudlin thoughts, old grudges, and churns up sludge in the news. We can hold onto resentment like it’s a treasure box, and once that box of moldy old resentments opens, they can be expressed with a scorpion’s sting. Let’s see if we can clear the air cleanly and straightforwardly instead. And to further pull us into this mood, we’re in a limbo phase between the social Day of the Dead and All Souls Day, and the astrological cross-quarter day, the mid-point between equinox and solstice, which lands on November 7 at 10:24 Am MST and is a good moment for personal observations.
Scorpio brings great focus. With both the Sun and Mercury in Scorpio right now it’s all too easy to obsess. Scorpio can work with logic and encourage us to pursue research with scientific precision. We can find out what’s wrong in the basement, what really happened back in 1990, who really was on that called to the Ukraine, or what’s at the bottom of any ongoing problem. Our dreams may be haunted with unfinished business from the past. When our focus is that tight, we’re not seeing the whole picture.
