It’s a busy week astrologically, buzzing with events, announcements, and a shifting of gears. Underneath this buzz is a call for personal healing as mental Mercury challenges the healing asteroid Chiron, conjuncts change-inducing Uranus, then joins the Sun in nervy Gemini. Whatever else happens, we can contemplate how this moment offers a chance to speak up and reclaim some lost power or help empower another, whether in a political or personal context.
Venus trines Mars in fire signs all week and pours potentially wonderful emotional fuel into the atmosphere. We love and hate with passion, need both connection and independent action. Friday starts with extra sparks under an Aries Moon, the weekend continues under a stabilizing Taurus Moon which helps with all the changes ripping left and right.
Saturn starts on a new cycle around the Zodiac on Saturday night as it enters Aries. Think back to the last two passes of Saturn in Aries- March 1967 to April 1969, and March 1996-to Feb 1999- to get a feel for what a Saturn in Aries transit invokes- both personally and historically. Over this next year it’s going to tag Neptune, retrograde back into Pisces in the fall, and perfect its conjunction to Neptune in Aries early in 2026. This conjunction happens once every 37 years or so and calls for a philosophical and existential overhaul, it dissolves walls- like the Berlin wall- shifts weather, and brings our attention to water, water quality and control. This Saturn-Neptune conjunction is the first one in Aries since 1703, a year known for a great storm and a few wars, the conjunction before in 1380 also stirred wars. Saturn in Aries demands to know who is in control, a hotly contested question, the question of this upcoming year.
Back to this week, Mercury enters its own sign of verbal Gemini on Sunday, the Moon enters Gemini on Monday and conjuncts the Sun. Expect a buzz. Sleep can be fugitive as under the Gemini New Moon because our minds just don’t want to shut up. Find a good use for those mental hamsters, give them some good work to do, people to talk to.
Speak up. Without expecting a response right away, we need to speak, bear witness to our understanding and our truth, whether in a conversation, in a letter, in a journal, or ceremonially in a letter offered to the fire. And as we do so we can unclog in our heart of times when we didn’t speak before. Or when we spoke, but of the truth of our head, not also our heart and soul. This healing could be that inner communication needed to really listen to all parts of ourselves before we proceed.
Friday, May 23: A spontaneous, assertive mood can spark our hearts with enthusiasm, distract us from mundane chores, or start a conflagration as the Moon in passionate and independent Aries conjuncts emotional Venus and trines Mars in Leo. Emotions pretend to be logical, be they are not. Ego issues can add to the fireworks. Outrageous comments can stir turbulence as Mercury semi-sextiles Chiron and approaches Uranus; don’t get distracted by other people’s monkeys, stay on target. Tonight, find a positive way to share enthusiasm.
Mercury semi-sextile Chiron 2:05 PM, Moon trine Mars 2:13 PM, Moon conjunct Venus 3:12 PM.
Saturday, May 24: Speak up, just don’t spill secrets as verbal Mercury sextiles expansive Jupiter. People can just say too much, and this can be hilarious or destructive, or just nervy. Jupiterian optimism can help us face some ongoing grim reality as the Sun trines Pluto, reminding us of what is important and what is not. We need to not just react against the world but actually create, which can offer us hope to see things shift. As Saturn enters Aries tonight, keep an eye on the headlines for clues to the next big assignments.
Mercury semi-sextile Jupiter 1:16 am, Moon conjunct Chiron, 4:07 AM, Moon sextile Jupiter 5:43 AM, Sun trine Pluto 9:55 AM, Moon enters Taurus 11:37 AM, Mercury conjunct Uranus 5:15 pm, Moon square Pluto 5:35 PM, Saturn enters Aries 9:35 PM.
Sunday May 25: After Saturn entered Aries last night, we may get examples of the work to come around the fierceness of personal authority in the face of feisty control. We want to speak our mind and hopefully can do it with sanity as Mercury enters verbal Gemini and sextiles stabilizing Saturn. This Mercury likes to gossip, but that can be difficult nervous outlet; enjoy the conversation but keep the heart compassionately engaged. Face anxiety head on and explore new answers.
Moon square Mars 4:05 PM, Mercury enters Gemini 6:59 PM, Mercury sextile Saturn7:45 PM.
Monday, May 26: Nervous energy can bounce like a room full of toddlers as we approach the New Moon in Gemini tonight at 9:02 PM MDT, a Moon which trines Pluto, sextiles Neptune and Saturn. Our busy minds can multitask and juggle many things but have trouble staying focused. Keep those mental hamsters busy, don’t let them just poke at worries for something to do. Tomorrow is an important time to initiate, so prepare today. If sleep is elusive tonight, spin the wheels of possibilities.
Moon conjunct Uranus 7:51 AM, Moon enters Gemini 11:21 AM, Moon sextile Saturn 11:32 AM, Moon conjunct Mercury 2:04 PM, Moon sextile Neptune 2:09 PM, Mercury sextile Neptune 2:36 PM, Moon trine Pluto 5:14 PM, Moon conjunct the Sun 9:02 PM.
Tuesday, May 27: Launch a website, start a book, apply for a job, or pitch a proposal as Mercury trines Pluto and the waxing New Moon sextiles both Mars and Venus. People will tend to be open minded and curious but have the attention span of gnat, so keep it punchy and to the point. Or poetic, it’s a day for poetry, for the beauty of words in focused form. People will tell you who they are; listen to the babbling and unearth unexpected corners of the soul. Ask gently probing questions. Look for the solution to a mystery.
Mercury trine Pluto 11:55 AM, Moon sextile Mars 5:34 PM, Moon sextile Venus 9:21 PM.
Wednesday: May 28: Morning brings a potentially fortunate moment as the Moon conjuncts Jupiter and then enters Cancer. After some heady nervy days, we can drop into our heart, listen to our gut intuition, and may need to catch up on emotional processing. Take the time to be nourish at a deep level. Deal with some practical logistics, look for overlooked responsibilities around noon as the Moon squares Saturn. Take a break in early afternoon and nap if you can, or let minds wander, while the Moon conjuncts Neptune, just watch out for misunderstandings or unrealistic wishful thinking, and come back to center tonight.
Moon conjunct Jupiter 7:01 AM, Moon enters Cancer 11:32 AM, Moon square Saturn 11:58 AM, Moon square Neptune 2:30 PM.
Thursday, May 29: On this deeply subjective day, both the conscious and unconscious minds are busy, potentially brilliant, and able to produce sudden eureka moments, but they may not communicate well with each other as the sensitivity-inducing Moon in Cancer squares Venus while Mercury is Cazimi- conjunct the Sun exactly. Watch for body signals and emotional impressions as well as spoken words -and notice where they do and don’t match. Take notes on any sudden understandings or revelations, any outrageous comments, then let them cook; go over them again with a bit of distance in a few days.
