We could be in for a bumpy ride, so let’s pay attention to how we communicate and to the quality of our thinking this week. Our concentration can be easily sidetracked by a bouquet of lovely or difficult distractions as Mercury — the planet that symbolizes how we think, communicate, and transport — flies through some complicated astrological clouds.

Mercury loans us nervous energy in its own sign of Gemini, and it is now of bounds, or beyond the usual path of the Sun, which encourages us to think outside of the box, and may make it harder to think within the box. Our imagination works extra overtime as Mercury squares intuitive but confusing Neptune and gets ready to turn retrograde next week, when it will send us back to review our life. This week Mercury slows down, a difficult place for Mercury as it is all about movement, movement of thought, synapse, and electron. So, watch the thinking, drive and use scissors with attention, and speak mindfully.

This mercurial pattern makes it a little hard to follow through on all the different pots now cooking on the stove and can trigger some scattered, anxious thinking. Mars is still in self-protective and defensive Cancer and out of bounds until next week — a place of military genius, but which can leave our personal and emotional defenses overactive.
