Let’s stay on target this wild and crazy week. Remember what’s important, don’t get caught in the swirling side winds or distracted by fireworks. This last week of winter begins with a full Moon, lunar eclipse, proceeds with Mercury retrograde, and finishes with the vernal equinox. Spring roars like a lion.
This Friday morning at 12:54 AM MDT the full Moon in Virgo- Lunar eclipse opposes the Sun and Saturn conjunct in Pisces. Eclipses- when the Sun, Moon and Earth align exactly and so casts a shadow, can act like astrological acupuncture; they can remove blocks, reveal what’s hidden in the shadows, and pressure us to shed what is outdated. Eclipses help us release illusions, outworn things -whether we’re ready to or not — and ask us what really matters. This one points out what’s wrong with the world, what makes us anxious, a Virgo specialty, and wants to know what we’re going to do about it.
On Saturday morning, Mercury joins Venus retrograde in fiery and direct Aries. Mercury has been in its shadow since the beginning of March, and now stations. Mercury is often easier when it’s fully retrograded than at this turning point. Expect some strange technical snafus through the Internet, mislaid messages or bad job descriptions, or mechanical oddities. Fix them quickly, and, if possible, find the hidden humor.
For the next few weeks, their retrograde motion symbolically asks us to review our lives, and Aries asks us to deal with fiery strong opinions and feelings, both about that review and as triggered in the present moment. It’s a good time not to contact contentious ex-loves and to have a task- like chopping wood or throwing rocks- to let off steam if any builds up.
With this Mercury and Venus pattern it can be easy to distort facts and to get hot under the collar while we’re heading in the wrong direction. Stop and engage Mercury retrograde skills. Pad the schedule with extra time to handle delays and sidetracks. Confirm reservations, check the schedule and current information, track carefully whatever needs to be tracked.
Remember Mercury retrograde is great for reincorporating the past, whether that’s contacting old friends or remembering difficult lessons from history that seem to be repeating. Learn from history but don’t get stuck there; let the past be compost for the present.
Thursday morning brings the equinox and the first of spring. Equinox are balance points, a balance between light and dark, winter’s cold and summer’s glory, they open doorways and initiate possibilities. The spring equinox in the northern hemisphere, fall equinox in the southern hemisphere, is a time of initiation, our astrological new year when the Sun moves from complex, deep feeling, receptive Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac, into straightforward, action-oriented Aries, infusing us with the bravery, rebellion, and life-force of an impatient sprout pushing up through the snow with the guts to start a new cycle after a long hard winter.
Friday, March 14: Recent events call us to sort our life. Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater or fire federal employees, but release what’s ready to go and value what needs to be treasured and nourished under this full Moon- Lunar eclipse in Virgo, while the Sun conjuncts Saturn. Clear the air with beloveds and coordinate gently this afternoon as the Moon enters more collaborative Libra. If someone has a revelation to share, listen. We can feel a little scattered but it’s worth the effort to get everyone on the same page and in a compassionate heart. Tonight, accidents and snafus are more likely if we don’t pay attention as Mercury stations, but a moment of stillness calms and aligns.
Full Moon, lunar eclipse 12:54 AM MDT, Moon trine Uranus 1:05 AM, Sun sextile Uranus 3:16 AM, Moon opposed Neptune 11:47 AM, Moon enters Libra 12:58 PM, Moon trine Pluto 7:26 PM.
Saturday, March 15th: It can feel like we’re caught in a storm or spinning in place and have trouble getting anything done in this swirling energy. Pay attention, start tracking important things very carefully as Mercury retrogrades. Make sure the email is sent, not just drafted. After a potentially bumpy early morning, a friendlier Libra Moon helps us support one another in life’s follies. Constructively rehash recent events, deal with ambient strong feelings, and be present.
Mercury retrogrades 12:45 AM, Moon opposes Venus 3:23 AM, the Moon opposes Mercury 8:11 AM, Moon trine Jupiter 4:37 PM.
Sunday, March 16: Hurry up and wait; we can feel both impatience and a need to slow down, which can be a tough combination. The slower and steadier we are, the faster we’ll get there and get it done while the kind Libra Moon squares irritable Mars. Notice some ambient pressure to accomplish; investigate if the pressure is real or imaginary, is it a sense of urgency in the world which is easy to interpret into our own schedule. Sort and proceed steadily. Enjoy Saint Patrick’s parties, just prioritize safety tonight.
Moon square Mars 3:52 AM
Monday, March 17: People may shut down and go to their cave under duress, or if they don’t trust themselves to speak kindly, as the Scorpio Moon squares Pluto this morning and sharpens our spears. Invite them out then leave them alone; let them come out when they’re ready. This Saint Patrick’s Day could be more subdued than usual, enjoy a moment of solitude or people-watch in a crowd. Connect to history, reminisce. Tonight, watch for real bar brawls if the green beer flows. Keep a sense of humor, however dark, especially if life gets odd.
The Moon enters Scorpio 1:30 AM, Moon square Pluto 8:10 AM.
Tuesday, March 18: We may not be able to see where we’re going, but can see clearly where we’ve been; investigate, review, analyze. Just know that the way forward is cloudy at the moment. If we trust those closest to us, this can be a wonderfully deep time, but our suspicions can either reveal painful truths or cause energetic troubles if we don’t clear them up right away. Right before dinner, feel an urge to be decisive as the Moon trines Mars, just make sure it is a good and thoughtful move. Check stories and Investigate motivations.
Moon trine Mars 5:55 PM.
Wednesday, March 19: Let’s take care of ourselves; this busy day is full of possibilities if we can see through the fog and deal with waves of feeling while the Sun and Neptune conjunct in sensitive Pisces and both trine the Scorpio Moon. Together they stir our emotions and stir up old resentments, just watch retribution hit the headlines, but they also give us a chance to take out old thorns and heal the past. That Neptunian conjunction strengthens imagination and intuition, but also the ability to delude ourselves — let’s work to see beyond our bias and opinions. Tell wonderful stories, write fiction, or visit art installations. Watch out for flooding or sewage problems, or the emotional versions of that image. The Moon enters Sagittarius mid-afternoon and opens a doorway that was closed. Evening can bring joy and great conversation with old friends as the Moon trines Venus.
Moon trine Saturn 12:02 AM, Moon opposed Uranus 2:38 AM, Moon trine Sun 1:07 PM, Moon trine Neptune 1:27 PM, Moon enters Sagittarius 2:16 PM, Sun conjunct Neptune 5:24 PM, Moon sextile Pluto 8:59 PM, Moon trine Venus 11:09 PM.
Thursday, March 20: After the deep, emotional few days, the energy lifts; feel a new sense of hopeful mischief as the Sun enters Aries and Spring begins at 3:01 AM MDT, and as the expressive Sagittarius Moon trines Mercury. Feel the excitement; we don’t want to put up with what feels dysfunctional, though we won’t agree on what that is. Be ready to start afresh but choose fights carefully.
Sun enters Aries at 3:01 AM, Moon trine Mercury 5:55 AM, Moon opposes Jupiter 7:10 PM.
