Happy birthday to the USA, or as astrologers say, happy solar return, as we celebrate the moment when the Sun comes back to where it was on the day of the birth. Many happy returns. This year we have a full Moon, penumbral or partial lunar eclipse, right on July 4, the birth of the mythic USA, at 10: 44 pm, right on the Sun of the USA. Eclipses unstick what has been stuck; okay they can eclipse what needs to leave and catalyze a situation ripe for change, and help birth a new form. This eclipse adds to the torque of challenging and transforming aspects that the USA chart experiences over the next three years. (Pluto is now opposed the USA natal Mercury, the USA’s progressed Moon just conjunct transiting Pluto last month and conjuncts its progressed Pluto this October, all working towards 2022–23 when the country experiences its first Pluto return). We can all help midwife a healthy new birth for our country, and hope that it’s less messy than the first one.

Friday is a great day for wandering and traveling under a peripatetic Sagittarius Moon. Mercury and four other planets are still retrograde, so we may wander because we got lost, a sign was missing, or we spaced out and just missed our turn. The Moon in Capricorn from late Friday night through early Monday morning makes this generally a good weekend to tend to chores and complete projects.
