Life can be easy where we say little, do less, relax and enjoy the summer while Mercury is retrograde from July 7–31. But most of us won’t have time for that. This week the astrological winds bring in fundamental shifts along with the usual Mercury retrograde follies- mislaid tools, odd accidents, visits from old worries and wonderful friends, strange and sometimes useful delays, all sprinkled with a few sudden opportunities.
It’s a great week to rest, repair, renew, and reconnect with our heart-centered clan. Take a test on materiel we’ve studied over a long time. But Mercury, as it retrogrades back into Cancer and approaches an opposition with Pluto, brings our minds to some familiar old personal issues and political problems. Our keys and phone can easily go on a walkabout. Important papers play hide and seek. Mechanical gremlins nip at our tires. Public figures light up the twitter-verse with outrageously regrettable things. As for conversation over the dinner table, we can wax lyrical when we’re reminiscing or telling tall tales, but our minds can feel like a spongy sieve when we are trying to nail down details or make future plans. It’s not that we can’t do what needs to be done, but it will take extra effort to stay focused, and keep our path cleared of debris.
