The Geminids meteor showers peak this weekend around 2:AM each night. We could see up to 50 meteors an hour as Earth crosses paths with the comet 3200 Phaethon. A meteor shower is beautiful for the astronomer, beautifully symbolic for the astrologer; new material filters into our atmosphere and symbolically coincides with fresh ideas, new material and problems filtering into our lives. This, along with a lovely trine between expansive Jupiter and change-master Uranus, can help us shift gears. We can use these to loosen up what’s held us tightly and choose a different path, reprogram our habits, and support positive change the culture.

As the weekend begins, the stars- and the headlines- invoke complex feelings, melancholic sadness with speckles of temper braided with seasonal warmth and sparkle. As always, we can choose how to respond; our experiences can soften our hearts with compassion and connection, we could get caught up in a whirlwind of strong feelings or let them wash through us, or we can sharpen a bitter edge as Mars forms an easy, inspiring trine to creative Neptune which uplifts the spirits, while emotional Venus conjuncts deep Pluto and takes us down to look under the rocks. Let’s choose compassion.
